Mk2 Golf rear window demister

6 posts in this topic

Does anybody have a suggestion or tip to replace or repair a missing spade connector on the rear tailgate demister?

I wouldn't really bother but it's Siglachrom glass. The other side is present.

I would probably just try to tidy it up or hide it somehow.

If you have the other side then at least you can demist partially. Failing that, it's a new rear screen. Looks like its been repaired already?

It had been soldered but the spade connector fell off when removing the bubble wrap.

A few people suggest Rear Screen Heater Tab Adhesive or Solder Paste so will look into both.

If solder doesn't sort it, I'd go with some heated screen repair paint under it to make the electrical contact between the two, then a thin layer of araldite over the top of it to bond it back on and make it stay put....

Thanks, the buyer of the side windows has taken the rear one as well and thinks he can repair it.
