1.9PD 100 - Oil in the fuel!

2 posts in this topic

Wife's trusty 1.9 PD Beetle has spluttered to a halt at last. felt to be running on two cylinders for 5 seconds then stopped.

Took clip out and pipe of fuel filter and primed with ignition on/off/on/off and fuel was clear. Took top pipe of injector pump and did same but fuel was absolutely black - very very oily. I'm guessing theres an oil seal somewhere between the can and pump. Is this likely to be the problem or is there a gasket that cheap/easy to fix? Not really wanting to spend a great deal as it's getting tatty now and probs wants replacing soon.

Thanks for any advice.

Google PD tandem pump failure, quite common apparently.

Doesn't look to difficult to replace.
