Hi guys. I will try to write/show you my story about my G60 ed1.. I boght a car in 2006 and it was in very good condition and what is most important, completely stock exterior/interior/engine/suspension, only missing the bbs.. That was great catch for me..

Unfortunately I do not have lots of pictures of him from that time.. My piont was to keep the car in original look exterior/interior as for the engine I get started from basic tuning and ended up with big perfomanse from the 8V . The car is completely restore in mart of 2014, engine and chasiss.The engine is not finished yet but , it is in last stage of reconstruction.  This is pictures from 2013, before restauration ...

I had lots of thoughts about the engine..

 

16VG60 or try to get the best of 8v ...

 

my choice was 8v.. one of main reasons was that car is originally G60 ed1 and want to see the 8vG60 uder the hood.

 

After that , I was in thinking what kind bottom end... go with revi 1.9l with 144 mm rods on stock  86.4 crank or go on more torque with 92.6 crank..

 

I had drive in bouth version... hp are more/les similar, torque more with 2.0.. it is totally diferen engines, 2.0 more wheel spins in lower rpms and definitely feels as more powerful becouse of earling torque.. but on the high rpms 86.4 crank is better and it is easier to transmit the power on the ground. So for light car I think it is better to go with 1.9l , rallye or heavier car go with 2.0.. Buth it is individual choice.. 

 

My next set-up :

 

- head :

 

- 35 mm exhaust valvers

- 2.3 mm larger exhaust valve seats 

- 1 mm larger intake valve seats

- max port intake and exhaust ( I cut in picies one head to see where is whater and oil channels )

- port inatke maniflod and throttle body

that's gonna be one hell of an engine!  Should get up (and down!) through the revs really quickly with that much weight having come off!

 

Headwork looks good too, and the throttle body too... :)

I had the same problem years ago when I blew my engine up. I wanted to go 16v G60.....and thought......this is a car I want to keep and 10yrs ago it took me 18mths to find one worth keeping so I decided to rebuild the existing engine and rebore it to 1.9. Decided to go with a few other engine mods too and was pleasantly surprised with the outcome,so it stayed that way! Years later (now) I'm glad I made that decision! I can always build a 16v G60 into a lesser model!

Great spec engine. Even in the early videos it looked like a very healthy performer. Like where you are going with it now.

 

Looks like you have some great open roads to test it on as well. Wouldn't get very far at all doing that in the uk. You'd pretty quickly find a traffic jam or a traffic cop...

Yes , we have a closed secondary airport 1700 m long , 35 m wide ( the place from videos of 1/4 mile race ).. ;)

Toothed belt kit , 56 teeth crankshaft pullye , 28 teeth G-lader pulley, so it is 1:2 ratio it is cca as 68 mm pulley on V-belt

New Fedime, slicks with road dot. I will use this tires only for 1/4 mile
I will prepare oem bbs rm 6.5j for them
